Default Learning learning.... learning

Hello. Ive recently changed careers from carpentry to metal work. Im an apprentice metal shaper at an auto restoration shop in Mooresville NC. So far it is a sort of teach yourself thru trial and error sort of situation. Yet, I need more direction. I buy all the books I can find, old and new. Ive seen all I can find on Youtube. Hopefully there is some good stuff on this forum. Thanks.
James C.

Welcome from a fellow North Carolinian.
Great information on the forum, you can learn a lot.
Do you work on old Jeeps?. I have several in various stages of restoration.
I'm learning also.

Well Dave, I hope you're enjoying the transition from wood to metal, as the glue sure sets up a lot faster.

James welcome to the forum
Teaching your self is good, but make sure not to pick up bad habits. Your best bet is to follow the forum and see how other people and professionals are doing the job, you can learn from them

Hi James and Welcome

Good that you changed your professions, At least you can weld steel if you cut it a bit to short.. now you can't do that with timber...

Welcome John. When you can, I recommend you purchase David Gardiners DVD. It will show you how to do nearly every aspect of shaping using only basic tools.
