Hi all, my name is Chris and I am very excited I found this site. I want to restore a 1987 mustang GT Convertible for my niece. My brother, her father, had a black 1988 vert. He passed in 2001, when she was 8. One of her memories of him with her was driving in it with the top down. I'll say the rest in her words. "He would always ask me if he could slap it into 2nd and I would always tell him no but, he'd do it anyway." It always brings a smile to my face when I think about it, even if I'm having a rough day.
The car is in ok shape. Rust in lower rear quarters, bottom of doors and floors. Have been working on cars for over twenty yrs. Have hand tools, Hobart 140 mig welder and a lot of time on my hands. I developed CHF last yr and was forced to retire. I also had a difibrillator implanted. The drs said a 130 amp welder is the limit I could use without setting of the difibrillator. I've used the 140 on 4, it's highest setting and have had no problems. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. For the sheetmetal I use 3 on the heat setting. We'll enough of the pity party. Time to get things done. Looking forward to developing my skills. Thank you for sharing all this information. Chris |
