I would think that a hammer form is the starting point as it is quite a tricky shape. It is quite a good project to learn new skills and I would take it on as a challenge, knowing that the amount of time to be spent getting this right (assuming you have time???) is in fact lunacy, however the knowledge to be gained is invaluable.

I once built a fuel tank to fit an xt500 custom bike, and cast a concrete hammer form to make the inside of the tank the same as the original. It wasn't a perfect choice of hammer form material, but it did accomplish 90% of the job I needed to get done with some added improvisations. Perhaps a thick composite hammerform using fibre reinforced epoxy or polyester resin cast off the original could get the ball rolling?
