Don, one of the names for Zamac alloy is "Kirksite" if it is gravity cast as opposed to being pressure die cast.

The melt temperature starts at 752F and goes up to 932F depending on the aluminum content.

If I were experimenting, I would pick similar die cast pieces, melt them in a ladle that has NEVER had lead in it, and pour them. It is easy to remelt as long as you don't go too large.
