Joshua, everyone that wants to participate will weld the same size coupon with the same machine at the settings of they prefer. The idea is that we have so many talented people that will be here but rarely do you get to see how someone else does the same thing as you but slightly different. That way you can watch the other guys and maybe have a light bulb moment of oh ok that's why!
Last year we torture tested the samples and the ones that survived moved on to final judging, just fun to see real world welding and testing and the different methods to get the same place. The winner will be awarded a traveling trophy and cash prize that may or may not be glued to the trophy and it will need to be surrendered before next years event.
