Hello Ben and welcome to the site. There are lots of threads here that you will find useful. one of the first tools I would invest in is a 'stump'. for steel you need a steel hollowing hammer and for ally a good wooden mallet. Some of the guys on here make them from baseball bats, this seems a good idea to me though I have never made one. Being in the UK baseball bats are not that common. I have one but I would not cut it up because my sister bought it for me years ago.
