Hello Mark, welcome to allmetalshaping. If you want to learn how to shape metal I suggest you learn with hand tools, only by learning how to shape smaller sections by hand will you gain the feel and confidence to create larger sections. Most things can be made with nothing more than hand tools. Welding is an important part of metalshaping and learning how to weld in such a way that you don't distort the metal too much will save you many hours of work and give you a better final piece.

If you look on here you will find posts about making and using a stump, this is one of the first things to do. Do searches and you will find threads on many subjects.
