New member introduction
Hi, My name is Alex, I'm Retired and from Queensland Australia.
I have always been into older rare cars although I use them and have always been more keen on making them reliable than looking good, you might say I was into rat rods before there was a name for it.
Career wise I left school and did a 4yr apprenticeship as a telecommunications tradesman with the commonwealth government which had a 18mth college block at the start, every morning theory and every afternoon manual arts and practical. It was great training giving me a confidence even now.
Since then I was a telegraph mechanic, radio tech, trainer at Volvo/Mack trucks and run my own business refurbishing unavailable suspension parts for the automotive trade and mining industry.
My experience metal shaping is limited but I have built a motorcycle tank although much room for improvement and I am rebuilding a Opel GT.
On the Opel I have built the front from metal like a patch work (not ideal but best I could come up with at the time) and filled a poorly fitting sunroof transplanting part of a roof from another type of car(no real shaping) and know I copying the flares in steel which has brought me here.
Thanks for having me I look forward to being part of this forum.
