Hi Everyone,
I have been into early Volkswagens for 15+ years and I am just about to start restoring a 1947 beetle I have owned for nearly 10 years. I have been doing my own welding and simple metal work for a long time now, but I am interested in taking this to the next level. One of the first tasks I want to do is try to make some bumpers for the car. I will post about it for some opinions soon. I can see there is some excellent info on here so I am looking forward to learning more. Cheers Kevin |
Hello Kevin, welcome to the forum. One of my longest friendships is with Simon Emery of The Paintbox. I am sure you have seen his stuff if you are into VW' s.

Yes Simon is a very well known in the VW world, and I have seen some of his lovely work. Thanks Rick for the warm welcome. |
I have known Simon since he was 16. I taught him and Shane how to shape metal many years ago. I still do the odd jobs for him. He does some incredible work and his attention to detail is fantastic.

Hi Kevin, Its good to have you here.
I appreciate how a repair on a '47 would be made much more difficult with the; past repairs, available replacement panels from later cars, and inaccurate historians, and many other limitations. I'm sure you'll find lots of info here and look forward to hearing some of the info you can bring. From here in the US where we never had many early VWs I'd like to learn about these. I've been on the edge of some poor retro - fits, like semaphores on Super-beetles. ---Kind of cool but not a restoration (and not even done well)--- |
hi kevin,
nice to hear another fellow country man has joined up looking forward to some progress pics of the 47 bug |
