I'm new here!
Thanks for all the great information. I will be browsing for a long time since I am just getting started. I just completed the mods to my Eastwood Bead roller. Added 2x3 tubular bracing, worm screw adjuster and a 3ph 60:1 gear motor with an inexpensive Automation Direct Variable Frequency Drive. Adjustable from 0 to 28.8 RPM at the rolls and stops on a dime (in 0.1 sec to be exact). I will post pics as soon as I get it pained up.
I am am very knowledgeable on welding and cutting having worked for a welding manufacturer for six and a half years. If you have any specific welding questions let me know. |
HI Justin welcome to the forum

Hi Justin and welcome!:)
That is a great way to motorized your bead roller! Do you also have a forward and a reverse foot pedal? |
Welcome Justin.
Looking forward to the details on your bead roller mods. |
I haven't finished the wiring yet so I am up in the air between a double foot pedal or a single pedal with variable speed (think TIG foot control) and a separate for/rev toggle switch. The nice thing about the VFD is that anything is possible and the controls circuit operates off the built in 10v source. No need for heavy duty reversing switches
