Re-Intro Hello from the Big Smoke
My name is Peter and I live in Toronto, Canada. I am new to metal shaping and have a Porsche 911 that I want to restore. Hope to learn more about how to make the panels I will need for my project. Also want to see how others make their panel and the tools they use. I also misspelled my name at 2 am when I registered, so this is the updated name so that I won't forget and curse the screen in frustration.
Ok, so I copied the requested introduction. Here are my words. Living in Toronto for most of my life and I've had a life long affliction for early Porsche 911. I have two of them rotting in my driveway and I'm expecting to get to them this summer. Fact is that I have will have a quantity of sheet metal to replace such as rocker panels, gas tank support, windshield corner, etc and I am expecting to tear out a substantial amount of my what's left of my hair bringing these two sweeties back to life. Because of this, I decided to name one Frank and the other one Stein, so side by each they'll be known as Frank 'N' Stein...somewhat appropriate. I really want to learn how to pound and finesse 20 ga. and get my 2 lovelies back to their glory. A long process for sure, but I have the will and the patience to do so. No, these are not my first resto's , but they are the first ones that'll have a good bit of new metal. I hope to develop my skills with the help of the fine group of knowledgeable and good people on this forum. These skills will add to the skills I already possess, I apprenticed as a Tool and Die maker once upon a time and my father was a mechanical engineer that taught me a whole lot, too. Next to Music, welding is my next biggest obsession, now if only I could get really good at it, I just don't have enough torch time to sharpen my skills, but that'll happen once this project is under way. Well, off to the boards for now, see you out there!! :D Peter |
