Introduction
Hi there,
My name is Théo and I live in South Africa. I have been interested in metal shaping for many years, but always got distracted with the mundane life making a living. Recently I found my interest again and plan on making some tools like an English wheel and bead roller as a start. I hope to learn from this site too as I am learning from YouTube and other platforms. Thank you. |
Welcome, Théo. You are in the right place. Remember a few things. The sheet metal you shape must always be soft, on the contrary, the machines you use must always be hard. There are many bad examples on the You tube. If someone has to turn the upper wheel first in order to insert the plate, then this is the wrong way and the machine.

Thank you for accepting me and thank you for your reply.
I take to heart your comments. I must say that I have had a fair amount of exposure before, and in 2009 visited the very first Metalmeet that Barry Ashmole ( https://allmetalshaping.com/member.php?u=79, Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/The-Garage-...2352857822743/ ) held. There we all started with a little bowl, and I then later finished my first front fender including a wire rolled into/on the edge. Unfortunately for me I lost both pieces during a move. And even worse, I never got the chance to get back into it. Hopefully this time round, 12 years later, I will get back to what I loved back then! |
