Introduction

Following instructions here, I have to introduce myself so hello, my name is William and I'm a scupltor in aluminium. I specialise in flowers, birds, animals, that sort of thing, and I am always interested in learning new techniques and new tools so I thought I would come along and say hi and maybe share a few ideas.

Thanks.
William.

Welcome William. Post some pictures of your work. We have some very artistic metal shapers here.

Hi all. I'm not the greatest at this sort of thing though normally I an work it out but how do I post a picture? Great start, I know.

Bill, read the stickys in this thread. I recommend attachments over albums but both are covered.

OK - thanks for that. I had got most of the way down that road but when I tried to preview all I saw was a message saying 'attachment' and no image so here goes.

This is a flowering cactus, Epiphyllum Oxypetalum, in marine grade alloy.

Attachment 30604

Above is the finished composition. It was made in five pieces that all pin into a wall bracket that is invisible once the piece is assembled. Next it was powder coated, the flower and stem in satin white and the leaves in grass green.

Attachment 30605

This is the completed sculpture. The colours have been given depth and life using acrylics as the powder is very two-dimensional.

Let's see if that uploads properly and thanks for the tips. Seems like a friendly place in here.

Nice piece William. Nice to have an other artist on forum.

Welcome to allmetalshaping William. Very nice artwork. For a few seconds I thought I was looking at real leaves in the second photo as I scrolled down the picture on my Kindle fire.

That is very realistic, but IMHO I would of left it steel finish, you have a done a great job of the sculpture and I think colouring has taken the work away from it.
