Intorduction
Hi,
Steve Culp here of Culp's Specialties. I have been building race cars, airplanes, motorcycles, street rods and art for 40 plus years. I have built 30 plus airplanes of my own design those being the Culp's Special and the Culp's Sopwith Pup. I retired from flying airshows and am currently building 4 Amilcar knock offs, a flying ATV for a government contract and other odd jobs that come in the shop. It is always nice to share information with others and I appreciate the chance to do so on this forum. I have worked with Bob Behrens and always enjoyed hanging out at Steve Davis's shop which was behind mine in Huntington Beach as well as Art Chrisman's shop. Need to brush up on my metal working. Used a Yoder years ago now have a Pullmax and a wheel. Getting ready to build the bodies for the Amilcars. Sincerely, Steve |

I appreciate the welcome. I have some good friends in Australia. Bruce Smeaton, Nev Morris and Carl that built a new radiator and shell for my Amilcar a few years ago. Can't remember Carls last name at the moment but he does some great work. Thanks, Steve |

Thank you. I have always enjoyed building airplanes and flying airshows which seemed like a good way to market the airplane. Thank you, Steve |

Steve,
Same here, I enjoy building airplanes. I'm working on an S-1S derived airplane stretched 5" to to fit me better and an IO-360 so I can afford to fly often. It will have "Super Stinker" ailerons with help from Kevin Kimball to insure they are correctly designed. I have a competition background, I didn't fly many airshows. Seems like the deep dark past to me now -- back when a stock S-1S could compete in Unlimited. Your airplanes really make a guy like me want to fly them or own them. They just draw me in. They're dream machines........ |
Hi Steve,
Please give Bob Behrens my best. And Steve Davis .... Sorry that Rem got away ... |
