Hi Roan, Welcome to the forum, A wheeling machine is a great tool but there is a lot involved in shaping panels. I always advise people to shape some panels by hand using hollowing hammers or bossing mallets (depending on the material) because it is much more intuative to form a panel like that and it gives you a feel for where you have to hit the metal to get the shape you want. Then when you use a wheel it becomes more obvious where to wheel to get a given shape. In basic terms where you would have hit more with a hammer, you wheel more. Learning hand forming will be invaluable on every job.

Welcome Roan.
I am from South Africa too near Stellenbosch. There are quite a few SAcans on this forum. Enjoy! |
Hi & welcome Roan - where in SA are you based?
Can you show us pics your 'wheel? There are a lot of Saffers on here, but it would be great to see more posting. I absolutely concur with what David wrote. I'd go further and say before you buy any other tools, you should order his DVD. Hands-down it is still the best money I ever spent on metal shaping.........and I have spent a LOT:lol:;) @Cobus, if you are so close to me feel free to get in touch and come past my shop. I'm on Blaauwklippen Road. |
Hi Roan welcome to the forum
