Unigoggles

I dropped my JSW00 unigoggle today and broke one of the spring arms. I plastic welded it and was able to keep welding, but thought I should get another one in case it happened again. I use a TM2000 filter and cheater lenses, so I was looking for the same model, but no joy. It listed as unavailable on Kent's site and the same at Fournier's.
Have they quit making it? Does any body use another brand? I need to go over glasses.

Quite a few used ones and a few new ones on Ebay.

Thanks Chris, I saw those, but I'm looking for the style with the welding helmet adjustable headpiece. I'll get a picture this morning.

Yeah I don't know what I was thinking as I have the same ones. Duh. You are looking for the Jackson WA-60 Unigoogle with the ratcheting headgear correct? Those have been out of production for quite a while now. I found mine on Ebay several years ago.

I did find these links:

Jackson's gone to sh** since Kimberley-Clark bought them out.

Maybe Kent can direct you to an alternative source or run cheater lenses in a conventional pair like the WR-60 in place of your glasses.

Good one Chris. I tried a couple of them, but will have to call Monday. You are correct about the quality. The headgear plastic doesn't seem to last, but at least it is available. I may have to make new arms.

Jackson WA60 headgear - NOT elastic strap goggle !!!

Thanks, Chris -
Sourcing the old WA60 Jackson Unigoggle (headgear) is difficult - especially with the metal spring arms. (an old favorite from 1970's +++)

The plastic arm versions are sorta available, but get wobbly with elevated temps.
And they break. :o:o:o

We keep trying to work out the metal spring arms, but it is very tedious without tube-drawing gear and a stamping press.

Glue what busted plastic you can / find what used ones are available.
(I am a buyer of the metal spring-arm models, only.)

"I would say" that the elastic strap goggle models are worthless - any sweat and warmth on the strap and the heavy goggle hangs down your face...... No Joy!
:o :(

If these are a failure point I thought I would try to make one. I used 1/4" aluminum rod. I flattened the end and then drilled and tapped the end for the spring retainer screw before I made the last bend.

There is NO alternate source. (We have tried for many months)
Maybe Reno can make the repair parts for anyone needing them?
:):)

Nicely done Reno.

Thanks guys.
On the casting site I belong to there are some advanced 3D modelers. It seems like it would be a viable manufacturing method if they can get the strength. The headgear is readily available for welding helmets, the strapped unigoggles appear to be the same dimension and the spring housing could be made from aluminum, so just the arm is left to make.
I had good luck with super glue repairing the broken arm and added some reinforcement, so I'll see if that repair lasts. Plus it may be the pattern for injection molding.
I need to work on my other projects.
