MG Frame - front mask
I have an assignment from a customer. He needs to repair the front grille frame after an accident. The frame is made of brass sheet. My question is - can it be bought somewhere? How much does it cost? So that I don't bother with the work unnecessarily.

Again, stainless steel is in play ....

Jaroslav I would start with Google and put 'brass sheet in my area' into the search box. That should give your local options. Here in the UK it is easy to get.

Cheers

Thank you, Dvid. I know Google.:)
I will clarify the question. Does anyone make it? Is it available? What is the price of this part? I need some orientation. Whether to deal with it. If it has a supermarket in stock, I will not waste time and I will give the customer a link.

But there is a variant of my production from sheet steel or stainless steel. I think I could make it.

Hi Jaroslav,

The radiator shell is not available as a reproduction item that I have found or understand. The only thing that is available is the front slats on eBay or Moss Motors UK, see the listing below.

These cars were made from 1945 to 1950 with about 10,000 built. So, it might be hard to find a used shell, then the price might be a LOT for what it is.

The possibility of the TD being the same size would be something to look into, as they were the big model seller and exporter after the war. I do not have any experience in the differences to guide you if this would work or not, but I often think outside of the box for better or worse.

After seeing all that you do and post here, this does seem like it would be within your abilities, I think you should give it a go. Are you sure it is SS the one I've seen was chromed brass as I recall.

You might also try this forum and see if there are any available from someone. This guy (link below) makes reproductions.

Thanks for the links. I have to find my way around it. I guess I can make it. Somehow the work is increasing. What is the real price? Can anyone advise me?
I have a variant in my head. Brass, steel and stainless steel.

Jaroslav,

His car looks like a MGTC with the 19" tall tires.
I am sure the TD had a different size grille shell

There are MGT series registries all over the world.
You could suggest your customer place a parts wanted
add in one.

David, the metalshaper in England posted long ago his
making of Jaguar SS100 radiator shells which are similar in shape.
" Classicmetalshaping UK" I think he called his business

They were pretty good tutorials, If you decided to make one
his methods would help, Good Luck Ron

Pretty rare car. Perfect repair of original would be best. Made of brass as original would be next best. Stainless next in value reduction.

That is the method I was thinking of.
Does anyone know what he charges for those shells?
Just curious,
