Hello from Germany

Hi, I am Matthias from Germany. We (my son and I) own some old american cars and therfore it's necessary to be able to do some metalworking on them, because it is almost impossible to find somebody here, who still does real metalworking.
Most of them just change fenders and that's it or you need a lot of time and money to get it done.
This is how we found our way to metalworking, because we want to be able to do things on our own. My son and I attended a basic metalworking class and both became addicted to metalworking. Right now we build our workshop and try to improve our skills.
We are very interested in all the help and information we will find here.

Welcome to the community, Matthias. Are you able to find some good deals on equipment since it sounds like not a lot of shops around you are using that type of stuff anymore?

Welcome Matthias you are on the right place. I'm not surprised that the parts in only are just being replaced today. The quality of work and prices is different. Here are the real ways to a good result.

Hi Matthias,
I live near Trier and am working on an old Rolls-Royce.
Where are you located ?

Do you know anyone that is good at painting?

Mike

Thank you for the warm welcome,
I live near Heilbronn, which is between Stuttgart and Heidelberg.

I think the shops got rid of their metalshaping equipment years ago, so it seems quite difficult, to get good old machines.
My number one on my wish list would be one of those old english wheels with a cast irom frame....;)

Mathias, if you have time to play, you can use the frame from the saw and the weights from the gym. :D
