Another new guy

Howdy!

I'm Mitch. I'm the new guy. Or, at least, one of them. I've been making armour since 1986, doing autobody repair since about 89, Artmetal thrown in there all around. Some blacksmthing, but I find that I don't like how similar hot metal looks to cold metal, right up to that point that you pick it up..... Which still hasn't stopped me. For the last several years I've had the best job in the world: Being a Wood Shop teacher at a High School (yes, I have all of my fingers, and they are still attached, not kept in jars). Right now, I'm rebuilding a 1970 Triumph Spitfire. Actually, rebuilding might not be the right word, rather, I'm turning it into the car I think it should be. Purists will hate me, but, then again, purists also tend to hate the 1970 model anyway.... AND, I'm keeping it out of the scrapyard. Hate the 1970 seats, like the older ones, but like headrests, so I'm building a set of old style seats, adding headrests, putting speakers in the headrests... well, probably more detail than y'all want for an intro...

so, HI! I'm Mitch!

Mitch: Welcome to AllMetalShaping. I was a shop teacher for 13 years back in the 60's-70's. I also still have my fingers. I do have a lot of scars, but mostly from what I have been doing since then. And I do have numerous British and Italian sportscars. I am not a purist either. except maybe with the rare Italian pieces that I have. My TR7/v8 is getting close to a makeover to address some of the UGLY parts like the rear of the car and tail lights.
I am working on fitting a blower to the alloy V8. Just for grins. I may have to blister the hood to get all of that under the bonnet.
Have a look around the site aand jump in with any questions that you have. Do some searches and check out the photo albums.

Ahhh, the TR-7: Shape of things to come. So much fun to drive, and so hard to find handholds to push. What V-8 did you use? Was debating a 351 Windsor in the Spitfire, but then again, I might be just a bit too old to keep THAT between the lines (because I'm certainly not "adult" enough to keep my foot out of it.... if I did go that route).

I'm certainly liking what I see from the threads I've looked at so far!

Y'all have a Merry Christmas!
