New Member from Italy

Hi to everyone, my name is Valerio and i live in Milano, Italy.
I discovered this forum thnks to an image on the internet
I'm a newbie and i hope to learn from you the art of metalshaping, beacause here in italy we don't have schools, and old artists are not so involved in teaching!

Hi Valerio,
Welcome to the forum. It is very sad that in Italy these skills are no longer taught, because Italy has such a great history of metalshaping, especially there in Milano, where Zagato and other great carrozzeria were located.
Here we are all trying to re-learn the skills that Italians used to be masters of.

HI Bill
it's true that in Italy there is not much teaching.... I was there just a few months ago and discovered that ( to my dissapointment) the ones that know the trade..... and there is a few of them... have the unfortunate mentality of not wanting to ""share their secrets". When I went to these places the first question that they asked was" who are you?what do you want? and who sent you? Ithought that was ridiculous, when I asked why they told me that, this is the way it is here.
It's no wonder that the trade is dead over there....

Hi Valerio. Welcome to AllMetalShaping. I spent a lot of time in Milano during the late 90's because my manager lived there and that is where he chose to have meetings. Beautiful place.

Trick's of the trade

It was quite similar in UK some/many years ago.....
They who knew some tricks did not "give" it away to others, it's all about money honey....
It’s just about to have some advance over others and get the job or do the piece faster.

But to take some know how into the grave and don’t share it, that is a worthless know how I think.

Thanks to those who share knowledge and not only ……

The idea is to pass the knowledge on....... if every body where doing like the Italians and others the World would stand still.........
