Hi Everyone . My name is Dave Gregory .I'm 43 ,I live in Melbourne Australia . I have always had a fascination with metal fabrication and admire those people who can make panels and shape steel . I am hoping to learn and get some tips and advise from the people on here as i am restoring/hotrodding a 1950 plymouth sedan that needs significant rust repairs . I am a member on Ozrodders.com which is how i found this site . Thanks Dave .

Hey Dave,
Funny you should join now, I just got back from 5 weeks in Melbourne (I travel a bit for work, this was a longer engagement than I usually have).

I like your town and I like your winter very much, it was considerably better than the summer I spent in Amsterdam 7 years ago... :)

hi dave,

interesting surname you have! it was also my surname until I changed it quite a few years ago now (long story, bit boring lol), how is the Plymouth coming along? do you have any pics?

Thanks for the welcome everyone . here are a couple of pics of the plymouth . The poor old thing has more rust than steel . As you can see by the second photo i have removed the entire floor and centre pillars as the floor and sills were nearly non existing anyway . I still have the bits i cut out for reference and the pillars will be used just repaired where they join the floor / sills . I have had the inner and outer sills remade as well as the floor bracing . I will have lots of less complex bits to make or get made to fill in the bits in between , which i am hoping to learn some skills and get some advise from here so i can do as much as i can myself . Looks like a great project ! Good on you 4 taking it on
We are having a bit of a gathering in September (Shameless plug) Check the "events page". It would be great if you could attend.

Cheers John

PS I'd say it is more likely that you are a distant relation to EKDAVE

Hi Dave and welcome!:)

Desoto 06-22-2014 08:21 AM

Dave,
I'll be fabricating new pans and sills for my Desoto. We should be able to work together to knock up a couple of sets.
Cheers,
Ash.

Plymouth Dave 06-23-2014 02:37 AM

Hi Ash . I am keen to help out anyway i can and would appreciate any help, although i don't have a lot of experience shaping metal . When were you looking to make things up ? I have had the inner and outer sills and some floor bracings made up but still need to do the floorpans and other things . I'm from Werribee . What suburb are you in ? ..Dave..

I just thought i would introduce my son Nick to the site as this is a father and son type project . He has an interest in old cars and likes to learn and make things as well . there's a picture of him helping on the plymouth and one of him trying out the new plasma cutter .
