Hello from Germany

Good day to all those metal basher out there...

Just a short introduction of myself:
After a long time of studying and wasting time in other ways, I can call myself a panel beater by trade.
I passed my apprenticeship at a german hearse company, where we built (stretched, rebodied and fitted the inside of different brands) and went from there to different restauration shops.
For now I'm working at the production line of a german car manufacturer, without any shaping for me to do. So, currently I'm stocking up tools and looking for a workshop to get back in to the "hands on" panel beating.
I hope that some day there will be a european/german metal meet, in which i'd loooove to participate.
So much for now, feel free to ask anything further.

Jens

Hi Jens,

Nice to see another Kraut here.
Where do You come from in Germany? A german or maybe dutch meeting would be great. I am next to the dutch border.

Regards, Jens:D

Hi Jens,

I'm working in the homeland of the automobile and living just shy from the black forrest. If someone ever wants to visit one of the museums around here, just give me a heads up.

Jens,

Welcome to the forum.

A couple of questions:
In your profile you list an interest in "wood gas". what is that?

And your forum name "Blechpatscher"; I look up "Blech" and "Patsch" in the German/English dictionary and am confused. Is there a story behind the screen name you use?

Hello Jens and welcome. Do you have any picks of your past projects?

Hallo Jens, grüße ;)

Hi Richard,

wikipedia has an article about wood gasification, that should clear things up:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wood_gas_generator

There is a german word "Patsch"?

It's hard to translate a colloquial term but I'll try:

Blech = sheet metal
patschen = to affix something in the rough way (just slap it on there and let's get going)

so, it's just a slang word for a panel beater, used mainly in the south of germany

I hope that clears a few things up, feel free to ask more...

Hi Jere,

not really, since I haven't had the chance yet to build something worth mentioning at home and didn't take pictures at work.
Currently I'm building a toolbox for my neighbour, but since it hasn't got much to do with sheet metal, I don't think it would fit into this board.

But be assured, as soon as I have workshop, that will change!

Hi Olli,

your projects look like mean fun machines, If I ever come around your town, would you give me a ride? ;)
