Here the rust repair has been made. The other black panel you see is an aftermarket piece from Dynacorn. The fit was good.
There are three separate patches here.
First patch with a few tack welds. I used mig everywhere but the top row. That was done with a spot welder. I did the butt weld technique.

This rust is common on 68-72 GM A body's especially convertible models.
redgoat This is how my GTO looked after the first time I painted it in 1988. It looked very nice but was patched up with rivets and body filler.
