New ford truck metal
Hi anyone had any experience welding on the new ford trucks with aluminum bodies. I have a small rip to repair. Question .... what rod to use? Also any tip or tricks for welding it. I will be using tig on this.

Thanks Kent Is the body 6061? I was doing some checking also. Have you hear of a rod 5554? I think it was Horbart that said this is the rod for the new ford trucks. They did not mention what alloy the body was.

I believe it's 6063.

When they first came out, I asked some sales type at a trade show what alloy it was. They replied, "military grade". I tried to explain that 'military grade' was not an alloy but it was obvious I was wasting my time.
