Default The Jesse James affair

Ok, so we didn't let this individual in and later found out he is Jesse James. This is true.

Here is the real story.

We have this nice little website with a couple rules:

- We require a real name and location
- We require an introduction to our members
- We don't allow bullshit from members or prospective members

This is a private site owned by 5 guys who pay all the bills with no advertising just so we can talk about ALL METAL SHAPING without spammers or jackasses.

So we get this introduction posted today:

Dear popeofwelding,

You are ALMOST through the registration process at AllMetalShaping.com
This is not your normal web site, we require you to provide more information when registering.

As a new member you will only be allowed access to a portion of the site. In order to have complete access, we require an introduction AND the updating of your profile with your location and a real name in the signature block. Go to the User CP on the upper left below the AllMetalShaping logo. Location is in the edit your details button and signature is further down the page.

Once you have completed the information and submitted your introduction we will verify your account and approve your membership within a couple of days max, usually within a couple hours. Once approved you will have total access to the forum. We expect an introduction to be more than 'new guy...call me bob'. Tell us your name, location and why you want to be a member.

If you do not do the introduction and get moved to approved user within 3 days your account will be removed and you will have to start over.

Thanks for registering at All MetalShaping! We are glad you have chosen to be a part of our community and we hope you enjoy your stay.

All the best,
All MetalShaping"

Gosh I hope I get approved!!!! (fingers crossed)
Being that he didn't tell us a name or location and was really smart assed about it, I sent this email:

Quote:
You don't like our rules and we don't need your attitude. You are banned. Have a nice life elsewhere. Admin
To which he responded:

Quote:
Thanks Asshole. Just FYI this is Jesse James
Like we should have known who he was or should bow to him because he's been on TV or something. Yeah, Jesse has a passion for metal shaping and blacksmithing but he puts his pants on one leg at a time like all the rest of us and he, like everyone else, will play by the simple rules we have here or he, like everyone else, won't be here. Simple as that.

Subsequently, Jesse dinged us on Instagram and facebook and we have a flood of new members from his followers. Most of them appear to be truly interested in shaping sheet metal but we're getting a bunch of folks flaming us also.

So that's the truth of the situation. If you want to be here to learn about shaping sheet metal, we're glad to have you. If you want to stir the pot, you'll be gone in a heartbeat.

Thanks to each and all of you gentleman for maintaining your integrity and maintaining a world class metal shaping site.

Up until this occurrence, I was a fan of Mr. James.

Default Jesse Jack***

Cheers for Admin decision

JJ is a talented metal man for sure, but I for one can only take him in small doses

If I should need a dose of "reality tv metalshaping" I'd rather tune in to late night TV......
...not here

Keep the good work Admin staff

Good move, no problem with banning people trying to stir up trouble. I feel sorry for people who are their own worst enemy. Some people thrive on conflict.

There are some very talented people here and I always learn a lot.

Thanks for maintaining the integrity of the site.

Keep up the high standards.

Thanks,

Dave

I saw that on his FB and was wondering, I knew there was MORE to the story especially since I have met many members on this site in person and everyone has been very helpful.

I support this site, the owners here for sure. Thanks for explanation.

Thank you to all the admin. I have been a part of too many websites where there is no respect for other members and it feels more like reality tv than an educational site. I've been here now for a few months and everything I have seen is first class. Keep up the good work, and also thank you to all the members who post, and know how to disagree without being morons.
