Eyes
This is my two cents worth on shop safety always wear goggles or a mask when grinding or welding. I've just had an accident at work and a hot piece of steel welded itself to my eyeball . don't know wether it's come from welding or grinding but believe me it hurts. So my advice is always protect yourself.

Agreed.. I have had several chips removed from my eyes, all but one were from welding/grinding debris falling into my eye after the job was done, and I do wear glasses. I just ordered a set of prescription safety specs to use under the welding helmet, only $29.00 at the local Walmart Optical.
I used to always wear contact lenses as a last barrier before my eyeball, as well as glasses/goggles/shields....and whenever I was wearing my contacts I never had an issue with debris. Unfortunately I can't wear them long term anymore so I had to do something different..Hopefully my welding will improve now with good visibility. The good thing about eyeball nicks and cuts is the eye heals quickly. But it sure does HURT before that.
