Default New guy from England

Hi folks! Matt here from Cornwall, England, aged 47. I started out metal shaping in 1984 when, at 16 years old, I worked as an apprentice building and restoring historical racing Jaguars from the 1950's and 1960's. I was apprenticed to an amazing character called Frank Knight who was in his 70's and fit as a fiddle. He had done it all: worked at Rolls Royce, built Spitfires and Hurricanes during the war and had worked on movies making one-off items for film sets.
Anyway, Frank taught me quite a lot of old school tricks, sadly many of which I have forgotten or not used for ages due to a slight change of career. I'm still working on classic cars, but mainly engineering and fabrication of components such as intercoolers, tanks etc.
However, I've rekindled an interest in double curvature work and want to relearn stuff I've either forgotten, or have yet to learn. Frank at 76 said you'll always keep learning how to shape metal, so it's a life-long learning process!
So, that's a little about me. Hopefully I'll pick up some useful info and tips and maybe in due course I might be able to share some tricks! Cheers, Matt

Default Matt from cornwall

Is that you turbo? Mate you need to come and play with metal over my place. Got the trumpf up and running now, already made a bit of tooling, can't make it fast enough for everything I want to try! Trying to get another smaller machine so I can set that up just for one operation like planishing or linear stretching. Also still trying to get a decent size wheel, so if you hear of any for sale let me know.

You can always drop over anytime if you wanna have a go one the trumpf, to be honest I'm hoping you will just so you can pass on some of your skills!

Have a good Christmas bud, catch you in the new year.

Anthony

Anthony. I have a smaller Pullmax that I'm looking at selling, I bought it 3 months ago and it's still on the pallet it was delivered on, I got it thinking it had 19mm tooling but it doesn't its 16mm. I have made a lot of tooling for my P5 and wanted another machine with the same size so I could use the tooling on both, I have since bought a P21 so the smaller one is no longer needed, it's a bit rough looking but the guy I got it from showed me it working, it has an offset and central lower tool holder and a back fence and a radius (circle cutting fence) it also has a long extension support that bolts to the front of the machine, I paid £1000 I am looking at getting close to my money back, if you're interested give me a call. 01256 861004
