Good afternoon, everybody,

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted an old car. Jobs and family responsibilities tended to postpone that for a while, but last year I finally picked up a ‘50 Chevy Styleline on Craigslist and had it towed to the house. Turns out that the floors and other sheet metal components need a little care (roof looks like a hailstorm hit it, but from inside the car). While I did the requisite cutting and welding in high school classes, I never picked up the finer side of the craft of metal work. I’ve run across allmetalshaping.com on a few boards, including the H.A.M.B. on jalopy journal, and everyone speaks really highly of the guys on this forum, so I thought I’d join and learn. Looking forward to learning from you guys!

Welcome to the forum, Ben.

You mentioned H.A.M.B.- Are you planning to do a restoration or a custom project with the Styleline?

Thanks, Skip!

AC, I’m thinking along the lines of a mild custom. The previous owner(s) swapped in a 235, kept the 3-speed, did a 12v conversion, and primered it with a paint brush, and between that and crawling around under it, it looks like it has decent bones to work with. I’d love to get it up and running in its present configuration, paint it, and drive it a bit.
