Trying to find a manual
Hey,
I am trying to find the manual for a Sheldon Machine EM-56-P 13" lathe. Does anyone here know how to get a hold of one? I tried emailing Tony at lathes.co.uk but he never responded. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks

Try ebay, search for Sheldon lathes, always a bunch of literature on there. Also there is a Yahoo Group for Sheldon lathes. the moderator has a lot of Sheldon information.

What sort of information are you looking for or in need of?
Lathes are a fairly generic machine tool. There are many excellent books on operation. As for disassembly and repair the logans are basic lathe construction.

I need a part list, disassembly instructions, and lubrication procedure. This lathe has been sitting in a warehouse for about 10 years and has a bit of rust on the ways that I would like to clean up.
Basically I want to overhaul it and get it into tip top shape.

Look up Keith Rucker - Vintagemachinery.org on the garage journal forum. He has lots of old manuals. I don't know if he has what you need but it is worth a shot

Cruise over to the yahoo Sheldon lathe group, all that is ready for Down load.
I remanufacture the felt way whips. Huge help in keeping the saddle lunercated. I have a set listed on eBay. Sheldon sabastian are very nice lathes. Over 100 hours of hand scraping was done. I own a em56.

I purchased an EM-56-P Today
It appears to be a great lathe, and I was able to witness it in operation before purchasing. The controls are foreign to me; the Taiwanese lathe I have experienced is quite different.
I would really like to find a manual, so any leads to purchase or download a manual would be appreciated. The chuck threads onto the spindle. It appears that it requires a spanner wrench to remove it. Is that correct. I am hoping to locate a 5C collet closer.
