Greetings From Southern Ontario
Hi, I'm Rob. I'm located in Southern Ontario, Canada.
Throughout my career I have worked in a number of technical areas - industrial mechanic, machinist, mechanical designer, software designer, and most recently - aircraft mechanic. I have a couple of antique airplanes, a 1946 Aeronca 7AC Champ that I fly, and a 1946 Aeronca 11AC Chief project. I recently started learning gas aluminum welding and aluminum sheet metal repair techniques to fix some damaged metalwork. Once that is done I hope to make some custom aluminum parts such as wheel fairings. In all cases it would likely be faster and cheaper to buy them (if available) or pay somebody to do the work, but I enjoy the challenge of learning new skills. With retirement likely in a few years I'm considering a number of aviation and automotive projects that would require metal shaping.
