Default Filler type after metal work

Hi Group,

I have a fender that I have replaced the lower 90* edge at the back of the wheel arch with a new piece, after welding in the replacement and finishing it with a hammer and dolly it has a very slight texture to it that I think I need to use a filler on to get a completely smooth finish.
I've read about feather light and other fillers in books, but since I'm new to this I thought this would be a good place to ask the question.

What do you use or recommend.
I look forward to any comments.
