Check out post #69 in my ‘58 Rambler build. Since then I’ve done all the other side glass (just mock up build glass...not the final glass) some came out awesome...some not, even with the exact same techniques. There a bit of luck involved (for me) I have more pictures of it, but am not at a computer to resize and post them here now unfortunately.

I went through Jim Stabes build log of the widened MGB and at the end of the second and start of the third page he discusses sandblasting and then the roto zip.

Sandblasting worked but not very well. It was very time consuming and very messy cleaning up all the media. The Roto Zip with a 1/8" diameter diamond cutter worked quite well with a constant water spray from a machining spray rig. I used a short sawing motion and let the cutter do the work. You can cut fairly fast (1 1/2" per minute) but you have to take care not to introduce any stress in the glass as you are cutting. This means supporting the windshield well and not allowing the cut off piece to get too long and vibrate from the cutter. Every foot or so I would back up about 1/2" and cut off the hanging piece. Backing up keeps the stress of the removal cut away from the windshield itself. Cut the top, bottom and sides first then do the rounded corners. Smooth out the edges with a silicon carbide belt in a belt sander. Use quick, light passes to avoid heating the edge of the glass.

If you have a very expensive windshield or one with a lot of curvature I would call Eddie Kotto https://kottoautoglass.com/ . He is the best in the business and he charges $500.

Default Custom tempered glass

I read in a Swedish restoration blog about a company in the Netherlands where he ordered new custom made tempered curved side glasses from.
