I have done some more work on the rear section.
I finished of the lamp sockets and # plate area and welded them in. I got a lot of shrinkage from the welding on this panel, it didnt suprise me with the amount put into it.

I ended up almost remaking the rear gaurd.
The duct area at the front I was not happy with the shape so I rehashed the frame buck in that area and started again. I feel much better as it looks like it should. After playing with the gaurd at the front I then found the lower rear section was just out and didnt fit on the frame by maybe 10mm. Rather than fight it I got rid of that as well. The outcome Im happy with. Between the duct and arch it is a reverse curve that runs from the duct all the way over the top. Sorry I dont know how to put an arrow in to highlight it. I played on the wheel and found in the end a 1/2 round file slapper and a small sand bag in the back worked great. I also found I had better control over the shape I was after.

I have some large parts now and I want to lock them in so on the weekend I welded the gaurd ,tail panel and deck together.
I will have to tidy up after it comes off the frame .

It has been some time, I have been moving through the project.
I have learnt a lot on the job , mainly how not to do it. I got into trouble on the R/H guard because I put the body line in the wrong place (to far in). It was where the guard comes onto the rear deck and has an eyebrow curve. I moved the shape but it was stretched by this time and it took some work. I did post for help on this and it was going to get cut off but something inside me wanted to fix it. I don’t think it was the fastest way to deal with it but I have to admit I learnt a lot because I had nothing to loose. I shrunk it with the O/A I slapped it I shrunk it I beat it and finally I got it where I am happy to leave it. It was more like crash repairs, Its not perfect but this is my first time at this so it will get a little filler in some areas. I couldn’t get the wire frame out without cutting, I did have plans on saving it but not to be. #1 is the shell with the wire still in it. #2 and 3 is the welded panel.

These pics are going through the fileing and bumping up on the panels.
I made about 4 slappers and purchased about 5 more hammers. I also made 3 hammers to deal with areas. I purchased a couple of round body files of Peter Tomasini ,they have also helped. I am starting to read the panels better and I know what will happen with what tool, this helps and saves time,on the rear duck tail I had a few little waves from the weld along the top edge so I was playing with a slapper instead of a shrinker and it went down so fast in on spot. I must have spent hours ,the issue of it being behind the # plate mount and very difficult to get a dolly in. I made 2 dollys and shrunk it with the O/A and recovered.

I have been taking in what I see on this site ,I have learnt rule # 1 first hand.
Clean as you go. I made the rear clamshell to fit the rear of the roof and down the sides. I did not clean as you go ,then I had the issue with the gaurd and that had an effect on the metal moving around enough to change your gaps as did cleaning the shapes on the side vents. I will redo a few small panels to fix that, the roof line is still good so I decided to finish of the panels under the rear window as this will hold the panel shape to match the roof. Before doing that I had to mount the clip on its hinges and this is done throught the rear light boxes. I ran a few options and the cleanest way was to bond angle brackets that I folded. I used the shrinker stretcher to get them to follow the body line, They are bonded in and countersunk rivets in the outer skin. The outer skins are bonded and riveted, I feel the riveted panels are in keeping with the era on this car as they were race cars and it doesn't look out of place.
