Default Introducing myself to all.. Trying to obey all community policies requested to learn

My name is Chris and I live in Seattle, WA. I was brought up around cars, I have been lacking one skill in my box of tools.. Auto body repair. I am not one to pay someone else for something I am capable of learning and practicing myself.
My truck has a few light cancer spots. I want to remove and fix properly. I am looking forward to reading and learning from reading about this craft, so that I can do this job once... Then onto restoring the cabs rain sill, I’ve seen a few products that are intended for that purpose, the proper techniques and tips are in order.
After the body work I was thinking of using both the original paint, the color sprayed over the original paint, the closest colored primer to either color to give a patina paint job. Ideas, thoughts and input are very welcome..
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance,
