I have tried a few things while testing the hammer unit, I felt that....... (I also could be wrong?) The electric version was not giving enough ''BANG '' also was too much work in changing the stroke ..I feel that by not having the right stroke..... (again I could be wrong ?) I could not get or overlap the blows properly for a smooth finish, by using the air motor all of these facts above where so much easier to achieve, and after a few weeks of trying and changing a few things around I come up with a unit that REALLY finish a panel just like a wheel and I am very happy with the performance of the unit As mention before.. by using the hammer... no need for a helper, saves my back , arms and legs, and in some jobs the hammer is quicker than the wheel Peter

I am not sure about your question BUT if you mean ''is the unit like a Power hammer'' .................. Well yes.. not as big, but quite powerful depending on the air motor used... like...N 3 /4/ 5 or up to N 7 I believe ...one of my own unit has been fitted with a modified JACK HAMMER and man ....does it hit hard!! I can block with it, take down tucks, and yet turn the unit down and finish a panel very smooth, very uniform.... Making door skins ..no a problem as a mater of fact the unit is very good and quick for doors skins simply because there is no need to have someone on the other end (like you would on the wheel) Peter PS I hope that was what you where asking?

Hi Peter. Could you show one or two pictures of a panel finished by your air hammer. Would be interesting to see the finished results.
Cheers, Matt |

Wow! I had little idea that such smooth work could be done with a planishing hammer. Very nice Peter, thanks foe sharing.
This machine along with several of your cast wheeling machines will be on display at Oblong this year. I will also have one or two of your machines available for sale, and anyone that purchases one can have it delivered to Oblong.

The handbuilt machine and attachment is far far from a Yoder or a Baileigh power hammers, these machines are very powerful, I would not dare compare my machine to those two ..... but... given the right air motor it could be the next best thing .....................at a fraction of the cost of those machines............. And the secret is....... dies design I just wish I could be at Oblong and demonstrate the unit, but I am sure you and Jim and Pat can work it out Peter
