Default New member intro- Doug in Northern California

Hi- introducing myself as requested...

I am a retired guy with a wide range of mechanically related hobbies. I’ve done a modest amount of simple sheet metal work over the years (folded shapes). I have a finger brake and shear, and am now interested in learning advanced forming methods for auto and aircraft work. I understand they are out of scope for this forum, but for context I’m a reasonably competent machinist (both manual and CNC machining) and welder. I have a pretty complete shop for those methods, and I’m now interested in adding forming capability. I bought the plans for building a Pullmax style machine, and I’m investigating that vs buying an old commercial machine (Pullmax, Trumpf, other?).

I’m here to learn.

Doug
