I'd think your beautifully designed skirt edge would work for aligning the fender?
Great work Jack!

I don't know, Mike. This thing is almost seven feet long. I'll use two latches and three guide pins.

Yes!
That quarter could go into an art gallery but will look much better cruising down the road!

I test fit the reinforcement today and got it glued in. I'll let it set overnight to kick.

I've been banging out some of the irregularities and used a little heat shrinking to get this fender into shape so it's time to check the fit onto the car. I still had a little bit of twist left through the length so I clamped it to the bench on the back and bent it out by hand from the front. It's pretty close now. A little more adjusting and trimming.
I trimmed the top edge a little short and left about a 1/4" gap along about half of the top edge. I can repair it but it's a lot of extra welding. It's hard to see in this picture, but at the very front at the bottom corner, the panel should have a little more curve to it. Right now, the last inch or so of the forward edge hangs over the quarter panel. I had to cut a pie slice out, bend the corner back and reweld it. It fits now so I went ahead and painted the inside with epoxy primer. Much easier to do before it's on the car.

Very nicely done Jack. Does it bolt in or weld in? If it's weld in, I might suggest just tacking it until you can get the car outside and look at it from a distance. I learned that lesson the hard way on the roadster more than once. What looked great in the shop wasn't so great when you could see how all the lines flowed.

It will be welded on. I had considered just tacking it or using Cleco's for now but for a different reason. I am not sure if I will need to modify the tubs for tire clearance. If I do need to, it will be easier to work on if the fenders are off. Also, I need to make brackets, splash shields, and other work around the bumper.
As for the shape, the overall shape is very similar to the original so it should be OK but I think I need to just mount it temporarily for now.
