I woulda had triple the amount of tools out trying to achieve what you did there, so you don't get a slob vote from me.

Looking good Jack.

Great seeing it come along Jack. Much easier to see what the whole buck building features were about now.

Invention is a combination of brains and materials.
The more brains you use, the less materials you need.

Jack,
You are doing a great job on the rear fender, I could tell it would need a heck of a lot of shrinking on the return, I don't think I'd have attempted it unless I had a power hammer to shrink so far into the panel, great job so far.

Default Tucks

Those are some monster deep tucks. After that the finish looks spotless. Would you take a minute and post a picture of the laser and it's stand from top to bottom. You are the king of the clean shop people.

This is the laser I use but any one with an adjustable base is good. They're about $30 or$40. The stand is an adjustable photography tripod.

I started with tightening up the front and wheeling everything to smoot out the bumps. I needed to wheel the edge along the top to get it to relax and lay down on the top of the buck.

I set up the laser with the beam running straight down the center line of the buck. This fender has a slight peak along the top edge and I need to mark that and tape along it.

I don't like to weld sheet metal on a peak so what I'll do is tip the peak in and trim the edge to about a 3/4" flange and weld there.

OK, that's pretty much finished. I'll do the rear half next.

By jingo, that is looking fantastic!

Thank you for showing the uses of the laser - your explanations should encourage anyone to have a go.

Happy New Year!

Cheers Charlie
