I would spray some clear over it call it done! Painting over that work of art is almost a sin!

This is the first thread I have viewed on this forum. This is exactly what I need to make the nose bowl and air scoop for my plane. That is great work! Thank you very much for showing this.

You made it appear a lot simpler than it is. Nice guide and great job.

Thanks for all the compliments. Wow, that is so cool that I got the metalshaper of the month. It gives me tons of encouragement to keep on working metal. I started working on the grill insert today. I'll post some progress pics later this week.

So I finally figured out an attack plan for the grill insert. I started with a 1/8” rod and about a 4-inch wide strip of 18-gauge steel. I first ran it thru the bead roller to make a pocket for the rod to lie in. To keep from marking the steel, I used a rubber mallet to fold the steel over. Then used some dull chisels to tighten up the steel around the rod. The bead roller worked better than the chisels for tightening up the edge. Came out fairly straight but didn't end up in the center. Then trim to fit. 18-gauge was probably overkill and tough to cut with dull shears. I’d use 20-gauge next time
