1940 Ford Beltline Duplication
I have been away for awhile, well you know how life is. I was able to secure a 1940 Ford Coupe Ute from Australia. Although the body is not pristine, its still a good builder. More importantly, its another project. I plan on making a metal duplicate of it, and had a question about forming the belt line.
I can think of three ways to do it. I want to ask the forum about ways to attack it. I think I could get a die set for my bead roller, Irvan Smith, but they do not have access to a machinist anymore. I notice the panel is one stamping, and under the quarter window panel, its rolled over to meet the other panel, more like a seam. I could make the panel that way, knowing you cannot make one panel out of one sheet as I remember Ron Covell saying, and yes, he is right. I was also thinking of making part of the buck a recessed area to hammer it in with a shaped wooden tool. Love to hear any ideas. A pullimax is out of the budget! 40 Panel.jpg 40 Profile.jpg 40 quarter window.jpg

Yes it was decided to do it that way for space in the container. All accept the doors and rear fenders.

That can be done with a bead roller and special rolls. Here is a picture of a similar crease put in a shaped piece with a tipping roll upper and a urethane lower roll.
This is not the rolls used but a similar setup. Other roll section for different shapes and results.
