Default Hi from Germany

Hi,

I'm Chris, living in Cologne, Germany.
I work in automotive as designer/engineer, but of course that doesn't have much to do with metal shaping by hand.

I love especially 50s and early 60s handbuilt cars and hope to own one some day. Currently I'm looking for an affordable classic car like Volvo P1800 or Datsun 240Z.

I would like to learn metal shaping, currently I'm looking at courses/semniars, but they're very expensive.
I'm looking forward to read and learn from you guys, and who knows, maybe one day I might be able to contribute as well.

Hi Chris,
Classes can be expensive, but you can also learn a lot from going to events like "Viking Meet" in Denmark, which draws metal shapers from around Europe.

There are enough Germans on this forum that you might be able to organize one in your own country.

Herzlichen Willkomen,

Welcome,

from Colgone ey, not by any chance working for an american OEM?

It's true that courses not only in germany, but as it seems in the whole of europe, are costing an arm and a leg. But IMHO the ones I attended are well worth it. Possibly in your case they're tax deductible, but that's something your tax consultant (Steuerberater) can tell you.

As for a big meeting, I would be totally attending.

Thanks everyone! Jens, that's right, that one car manufacturer located north of cologne...

I'll definitely check out viking meet, as I'm originally from northern Germany close to the danish border.

regards

Default Nice to have found this!

Hello. I'm not a beginner in steelplating and metalwork , worked with building biopowerplant for many years, but there are lots of room for improvement! So really nice to be here.

Regards Erkki/Sweden
