Default August Update

This summer is just flying by. I've been very busy getting the shop ready for the upcoming class and meet. I think we have some interesting things planned for you.

I know that people like to wait until the last minute and then just show up if it is convenient for them. That makes planning really difficult. I have a smaller shop, and in order to make sure there is room for everyone I really need to know who will be attending ahead of time.

Several people mentioned that they might attend back in May at Dan Pate's event. Most have not yet confirmed what days they plan to attend though, so they are not yet on my list. I've been working through my contacts and have 15 of the 20 available slots filled.

1. Dan Pate
2. Pat Brubaker
3. Mark Klein
4. Shawn O'Harrow
5. Craig Peterson
6. Mike Clarahan
7. Dane West
8. John Draxler Sr.
9. John Draxler Jr.
10. Henry Votel

11. Brock Shimon
12. Bob Wenzel
13. Alan Anderson
14. Terry Robinson
15. Greg Willodson
16. Bob Jensen
17. Jeff Dietrich
18.
19.
20.

As you can see, I have five spots still open. If you aren't on the list and are planning to attend, please post a reply.

I'm looking forward to a great event in October.

Default confirmation

I'm just confirming I still plan on attending Pats class and will be up for Friday and Sat.

If possible I'd like to get some patternmaking help and replicate the left side rear roof of a Model A coupe from a right side I have. If this is too much of a project, let me know.

I cant wait for October!

Thanks,
Dane West

Dane,

Looking forward to seeing you in October. Bring your Model A roof panel and we'll help you make a panel for the other side.

Did you get a hotel room?

Default Another Update

I can't believe how the summer has flown by. The shop is finished and the inside is about 95% organized. It will be ready for the October meet.

One of the Highlights is that Mike Motage will be here and he is doing a presentation on his 1967 Jag/Trans-Am Project. You can read more about it here. http://www.allmetalshaping.com/showthread.php?t=7593

He's got over 41,000 views so I know there is interest. Before you get too excited, the car won't be here, but Mike will be, and you can ask him lots of questions about it.

The presentation will tentatively be near the end of the day on Friday. Skip out of work early if you have to because this is a presentation that I think everyone will enjoy.

Thanks for the plug Steve!

These meets are always worthwhile, because there is always something to learn. Whether it's new techniques, tools, shop layout, tool storage, etc.. Plus food and meeting people with similar interests. Learning the hard way can be expensive, so any knowledge gained thru conversation is a bargain!

Hey, Mike, that is one astute observation! I love it!

Hey everyone, Just a couple spots open for the class before the event If you would like to attend the class shoot me a message. Just last weekend I had a class here in the shop that had a focus on hand tools. The goal for the class was to show the students how far you can go with just the fundamentals and not get in so deep that you give yourself a headache. The first day was a skill building day as the guys in the class had little to no metal shaping experience, they had to make accurate patterns and learn how to use them to simplify the work. The second and third days were work days to make panels to fit the wire form for a T bucket size body. The class before the event will have have smaller projects to work on where you can see exactly how each skill builds on the next, here are some pictures from the class I had here in the shop.14183691_656368844521279_2802729233778674467_n.jpg

Very nice 'stuff' there Pat.

Good luck with your class at Steve's. Wish I were able to attend. Those that do attend will have a great experience and remember where they learned all that good 'stuff'.

Default September Update

I've had a couple of cancellations so we should have room for anyone wanting to attend either the meet or Pat's class.

Directions: Since nearly everyone has GPS, in some fashion, available to them these days, this SHOULD be simple.

My address is
712 26-1/4 Ave
Cumberland, WI 54829

However, most GPS and mapping software think my address is about five miles east of the actual location, so I'd suggest trying this address instead:

2639 7th St.
Cumberland, WI 54829.

That address is for the 5 O'Clock Club, a restaurant about 200 yards NW of my house. GPS seems to find it without trouble. 26-1/4 Ave intersects 7th street just south of the restaurant. Turn east on 26-1/4 and look for number 712 on the left. There isn't much on my road so it should be easy to find.

Not much parking on my property so probably best to park on the street. It is a dead-end road with only one other house, so very little traffic to be concerned about.
