Default Workshop in eastern Tennessee in April

On April 12-14th this year I am hosting our 6th Workshop at my shop in Elizabethton, Tennessee. In past years we have focused on different facets of Model-A restoration and metalshaping in a hands-on workshop environment where the attendees bring their projects and are mentored under supervision just like similar metalshaping workshops. In chatting with Will Cronkrite last year (-after he suggested he would not be hosting an event at his house), I suggested that I could open my event up to his Redneck Roundup attendees as I have more room and would enjoy many. So, for those people here that would like to attend and bring a project to work on, --or maybe just come to assist someone else, I am officially inviting and welcoming you to attend.

Since we are a restoration shop, there will be a few other seminars scheduled that may be of interest even though they are outside of metalshaping however we will also have some sheetmetal-related classes too that may be of interest to the resto crowd. If you would like to host a seminar or work group session, I would encourage that.

As far as logistics go, we will have a warehouse area of approximately 3,500 square foot available to work on personal projects in, -and we have other areas such as a break room or other shop areas to host the individual seminars or smaller work group sessions. Our metal shop has a P3 Pullmax, a 36" pneumatic Planishing Hammer, and other shaping-related tooling available for use. Additionally, we have the room and the electrical power available should someone wish to bring their own machine. This would included welders, pneumatic tools, or ???. We have an overhead crane and fork lifts available for loading/unloading. We have room outside for self-contained camping, -or there is lodging available nearby. In the past there has been a swap meet, and you would be invited to participate in that if you desire.

SO, ...is there any interest from anyone here in attending?? If so, I'll post this in the events section.

Glad to see that you posted this Brent. You can plan on my attendance and many of my friends. My interest with the Model A has always made attending one of your events enlightening and educational. Your facility is first class and located in a beautiful part of Tennessee. While Peggy and I want to maintain our event as the 'Redneck Roundup', I can assure everyone that there will be plenty of rednecks in attendance...... They make the greatest friends.

I am working on the possibility of making a presentation on the 'fundamentals of metal shaping' for the novice metal shapers in attendance.

Your events have always drawn plenty of Model A enthusiasts, and this new facility will give us all an opportunity to enjoy your hospitality and well equipped shop, including that upstairs kitchen where I enjoyed eating while watching others work below from those large windows. I still fondly remember that home made cornbread and ham.

I'm interested!
Gotta check the schedule and related logistics, and thanks for offering up to compliment the Great Hospitality That the Round up in Rockhill has offered this community! Will and Peggy are the most gracious hosts and have set a fine precedent for the southeast/mid-atlantic region!

Perhaps yours can become "The Great Smokies Metal Mashin'"
of course with a graphic of fabricating a still for makin' corn mash

just a thought..

I'm interested as well but have prior plans close to the dates. We talked about it yesterday at Will's, so I'm going to see what can be done....

Hard to beat TN. My wife and I really miss living there.

Sounds like a jam-up idea! I had wanted to come to your event last year, but since I had just recently spent the week at Will's for a class with Patman, and the Redneck roundup, I just couldnt swing it.
I always enjoy reading your posts on the Fordbarn and the VFF, and appreciate the way you give out good advice.
I hope to be able to make it this year.

Had to miss the last Red Neck Round Up due to work and health issues.

This one is on my list. Always a great time, great learning experience and great friends.

Hope to be able to make this one. I will start planning now.

I would like to come and I have a friend who is working on a model A. He has not done any metalshaping, but would like to come anyway. Not sure about all three days.
Thanks for having this.
