Heat a dime sized spot up to a red heat, it will expand and as create a little "mound". (It will generally follow the existing crown in the panel.) Quickly flatten the little mound between a hammer and dolly. Stop hammering after the first "tink" of hammer on dolly, the goal is to move the hot metal back into line with the rest of the panel, further hammering will stretch it and defeat the purpose. Repeat.

The hot metal is constrained as it expands by the cool metal around it, when you force it back into the same plane it has to occupy a smaller area and becomes slightly thicker. As it cools and shrinks it changes the shape of the panel. Simple. 😁

Hopefully someone will be along to post their favorite video of the process soon.

Can you tighten the edge with a hand shrinker? That would get you a nice straight edge leaving a small crown behind it that would heat shrink out easily enough. Can do you a set of pics if that would be useful?
