I have been reading this post about shrinking for a while, and it's my belief that all kinds of shrinking or stretching can be done to make a panel, it's up to the operator to understand the shape that he is making and use the shrinking or stretching method appropriate for that shape, and these decisions are made after many years of experience in the trade, and a lot of stuff ups.
In other words what I mean is just because you have a pulmax or a shrinking machine for example, not all shrinking is done on those machine..... or vice versa..... if you have a stump and blocking hammer, or a Piccolo etc etc...... And as far as what happened to the metal.... you would have to be a metallurgic expert to explain with proper words what happens to the metal, and that I am afraid I am not.....All I know is what I have learned in many many years of working and shaping all kinds of metal, and as I said before...... after making a lot of mistakes....I am quite comfortable in saying that.... you will only learn by your own mistakes Peter
