New Guy from Tucson,az
Hello everyone, My name is brandon willis. im 21 and from tucson arizona. Ive been building automotive chassis for 2 years now and i wanted to learn new skills such as metal shaping which is why im here and to get some good input on tool design and why its done that way.
I am currently working on building an english wheel with a 34" throat built from 3"X8" .25 wall tubing i picked up from a scrap yard. And after talking to Joe at Hoosier i will be laying down the cash to pick up a set of their standard 2x3 anvils and 8x3 upper wheel. So heres some pictures for fun. my 65 ford pick up new chassis for the 65. set up for a triangluated 4 link, air bags mounted 33.3% down the link bars for better ride and higher lift. hand built front suspension consisting of adjustable chromolly a arms, 91 dodge dakota spindles/disc brakes/power rack. 4 viair 480 compressors, The frame rails are caped off to be 2 2 gallon tanks for the front and 1 4.5 gallon tank for the rear and pressure tested for 200psi. And my favorite part. the entire chassis can be disassembeled with 3 wrenches, because there are no nuts on the chassis. Instead of nuts their are frenched in threaded bungs to look and be clean and functional. and my current project and need for an english wheel a chopped 40 chevy coupe now hopefully i will be good enough at wheeling to make a nice roof for it Last edited by brandonwillis; 10-15-2009 at 04:18 PM. |

I like the old school chop on the Chevy.
You already knew to cut out the back corner of the fifth window so you could move it forward.I usually end up splitting the roof right down the center of the door and adding a filler strip,so it will reach the a pillars. I see what you mean about needing a new roof,I bet you can get away with just doing half of the roof.To me it looks like the b pillars back. How much did you lean the rear window forward? Also what was the chop,3 in the back nothing in the front? Oops I forgot to welcome you aboard, welcome aboard

Brandon, welcome to the site, thanks for joining. Looks like you have frame fabrication mastered. You should do well with metal shaping.
