Default 12" duct escutcheon how to make 1.

Hello Group,
I have just started an exhaust hood install over my metal fab table and where the 12" duct goes through the ceiling I want to make a escutcheon for the oversized hole I cut for the duct.
I know how to cut a circle inside a circle but the question is, how do you put an angle to the ring so it doesn't sit flat on the ceiling but is cone shaped and is a slip fit. Also do I change the dimensions to get the end result.
Hope my question is clear.
Look forward to your suggestions.

Hi Chris,

What you are doing is making a shallow cone, for which there are lots of examples of layouts on the web. But, if you aren't too fussy about the exact dimensions of your escutcheon, just cut out the ring you described, and make it larger in diameter than what you think you want, by about 1 or 2 inches on both diameters. Make a radial cut to pull an overlap for refastening with spot weld, rivets etc. As you overlap the ends of the cut, the come will start to develop. Keep going until the small diameter fits your pipe and mark or clamp for fastening ... You could also make a small model in paper and scale it up if you want a particular look.

Mark,
Thanks for the response and what a simple sollution to the problem. I was making it WAY to complicated thinking I would need to shape the metal some how but could not figure out how.
Again I've got to KISS sometimes and not overthink things.
