Its a Cutlass hood, not going to fit an Omega. Not an option. Only way to get that scoop on my hood requires cutting and welding.
Or 3M panel bond adhesive. Maybe I shouldn't laugh yet.

Oh! Ok then, never mind.
If he cuts it, make sure he stays way the heck away from where you will want to do work. If he uses a torch to whack it out, it will be warped all to heck. Einar is dead on. PRACTICE a lot before you slice your hood. I've seen a bunch more hoods ruined by welding than done right. A BUNCH more. Also don't forget that you've got an inner structure that you will have to either work around or remove the skin from the structure.

He said sawsall and I asked him not to cut until I tell him where.
Few inches from the body line should (?) give me a bit of fudge room. Just thinking maybe it would be smarter for me to not try the full length approach maybe merge the ridge (spear) into the new raised area?

I'll definetly practice! I welded a louver from an old locker after I 1st got my MIG (15 years ago) and made some waves in my Toyota truck hood. Been there.

Here is a hood scoop I made for my jeep. I started with a fire damaged hood of a different vintage; all in all there is very little filler in it. And if I were to do it now far less still.

Funny I was just looking at that over @ TGJ.
Nice work! I ended up selling the Omega. As it sits now the 442 louvers are in my shop and will probably get framed and hung in the shop unless I get a project that needs that scoop.

Just another idea, make a bolt on hood scoop and just drill small holes to attach it. Don't go over board and make them too tall, and it could look really nice. JPM
