Howdy
I was doing some poking around on the Internet today for metal working and fabrication and came across this site...very cool it looks like!
I live in South Central Ohio and work in InfoSec for a fairly large company. My relaxation is working on stuff. Houses, cars, etc. just about anything that needs to be fixed. The tractor I have is a 1955 McCormick Farmall and I've still got my first car which has been in a garage/barn at my brothers for about 25 years. About 2 years ago my wife and I bought a place in the middle of no where with a dream shop. 30x48 with 2 workbays, space for extra equipment, its own electric service, insulated and propane heat. Before that I only had a 12x25 garage to work on anything which was cramped to say the least. With the added space I've been able to start branching out with the major addition being learning to weld...just MIG at this point but a start. I've always fixed things and prior to working in an office I ran a full service Sohio station owned by a Chevrolet dealer. With the added space, I've been adding to my cars with most of them needing some work which makes it fun. I can mash metal together and know enough to know there's more to it than that. My dad could do basic shaping which I learned from him, but I don't fully understand how it all works...I can just do it when I really need to. Finding a place like this looks really cool to start poking around with other folks who know as little as I do and those that have a lot of experience. Based on my work, I tend to be able to get time on sites in spurts. I may be around a lot over a week or two, then seem to disappear for a few months, but having the connectivity is going to be great!
