Whats the best grade of stainless for cold forming trim I would have thought 304 or 304L.
Any suggestions?

Forming Stainless
IF you are going to weld it, 304L has low carbon and less likely to crack.

I need to make a grille surround piece for a Ferrari Dino. The original part is mirror finish stainless, about .015. Any help on sources for the stainless stock would be much appreciated.

430 Stainless for Trim?
430 Series seems to be good for stainless trim. Thoughts?

I worked for a factory that made stainless steel machinery for the fast food industry. Once while doing inventory in one of the warehouses I remember seeing 400 series panels which were covered with a very light rusty haze. Nothing serious, normally you could easily remove the rust with a scotchbrite pad so long as you're ok with changing the original finish. For that reason I've always stayed away from 400 series.

430 SS mirror (mill finish is available and if doing a lot of forming/joining might be a better way to go and then polish) is what you want. it is used on most OEM car trims.
When they were actual metal.
